Cable Pattern Baby Set

I knit hats and booties to be given to all the babies born in our small rural hospital and these patterns are some that I designed for that purpose. They work up fast (around 6 hours) and make great gifts.
Cable Baby Hat
Size: Newborn Infant
Materials: #5 (3.75mm) needles, cable holder, 1/3 oz. Fingering weight (#1) yarn, 30 inches of ¼ inch ribbon, large eye sewing needle
The example was made with acrylic Bernat Baby yarn; color Baby Green (#00444) and white ribbon
Gauge in st st: 7 sts, 9 rows = 1 inch
Abbreviations:
RC: sl next 2 sts to cable holder and hold in back of work, k2, k 2 from holder
Pattern
Rows 1 and 3: (WR) *k3, p4, rep from * to last 3 sts, k3
Row 2: *p3, k4, rep from * to last 3 sts, p3
Row 4: *p3, RC, rep from * to last 3 sts, p3
CO 80 sts
Work pattern for 8 rows
Row 9 (Decrease row): p14, p2tog, *p5, p2tog, rep from * to last 15 sts, purl to end (72 sts)
Row 10 (Eyelet row): k3, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, k3, *yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, k2, rep from * to last 10 sts, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, k3
Row 11: p1, increase 1, purl across
Work 18 more rows in st st
Decrease for top
Row 1: *K7, k2tog, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 2 and all even rows: Purl
Row 3: *K6, k2tog, rep from * to last st, k1
Continue decreasing in this manner till 9 sts remain.
Break yarn and draw through remaining sts. Draw tight and sew seam. Weave in ends. Weave ribbon through eyelet holes.

Cable Baby Booties
Size Newborn Infant
Materials: #2 (2.75mm) needles, cable holder, sewing needle, 1/3 oz. fingering weight (#1) yarn, 36 inches of inch ribbon, cut into two 18 inch pieces
The example was made with acrylic Bernat Baby yarn; color Baby Green (#00444) and white ribbon
Gauge: 8 sts, 10 rows = 1 inch
Abbreviations:
RC: sl next 2 sts to cable holder and hold in back of work, k2, k 2 from holder
Pattern
Rows 1 and 3: (WR) *k3, p4, rep from * to last 3 sts, k3
Row 2: *p3, k4, rep from * to last 3 sts, p3
Row 4: *p3, RC, rep from * to last 3 sts, p3
Cuff
CO 45 sts.
Work 12 rows of pattern.
Row 13:*k1, k2tog, p4, rep from * to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 (38 sts)
Eyelet Row: *k2, yo, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, yo, rep from * to last 2 sts, k2
Row 15: purl, dropping the second yo
Row 16: k18, k2tog, k to end (37 sts)
Row 17: purl
Instep
K 24 sts, turn. Purl 11.
Work 10 more rows of st st over these 11 sts.
Dec: Row 1 (RS): k1, ssk, k5, k2tog, k1
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: k1, ssk, k3, k2tog, k1. (7 sts) Cut yarn.
Foot
Attach yarn to 13th stitch. Pick up 10 sts along side of instep, knit across 7 sts of toe, pick up 10 sts along other side of instep, knit remaining13 sts. (53 sts)
Beginning with a purl row, work 7 rows in st st
Toe Decrease
Row 1 (RS): k1, ssk, k21, k2tog, k1, ssk, k21, k2tog, k1.
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: k1, ssk, k19, k2tog, k1, ssk, k19, k2tog, k1.
Decreasing as established, rep rows 2 and 3 two more times.
BO remaining 37 sts in purl.
Finishing: Sew back and sole seams, weave in yarn ends, and weave ribbon through eyelet holes
