Size: 18.5 inches by 14 inches
Materials: 1 ¾ balls (2.5 ounces each ball) Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream cotton for each place mat; # 6 needles
Gauge: 4.5 sts = 1 inch; 6.5 rows = 1 inch

Row 1: (right side) *k1, p13, k1, repeat from * across row
Rows 2 & 14: *p2, k11, p2, repeat from * across row
Rows 3 & 13: *k3, p9, k3, repeat from * across row
Rows 4 & 12: *p4, k7, p4, repeat from * across row
Rows 5 & 11: *k5, p5, k5, repeat from * across row
Rows 6 & 10: *k1, p5, k3, p5, k1, repeat from * across row
Rows 7 & 9: *p2, k5, p1, k5, p2, repeat from * across row
Row 8: *k3, p9, k3, repeat from * across row
Rows 1 through 14 complete pattern
Seed Stitch
On odd number of sts,
Row 1: *k1, p1, repeat from * cross row, ending with k1
Row 2: repeat row 1.
Place Mat
Cast on 83 sts.Bottom border: Work seed stitch for 5 rows.
Center of Place Mat: Keeping the first and last 4 sts in seed stitch for side borders, work Giant Diamond Pattern over middle 75 sts.
Work 85 rows of Giant Diamond pattern, ending with Row 1
Top border: Work 5 rows of seed stitch. Bind off in pattern
