Sadie’s Summer Cotton Purse

(This pattern was published in the 2012 “Knitting Pattern a Day Calendar”, dates June 29-July 2)

I designed this purse when I couldn’t find a summer purse that I liked for a reasonable price. It works up fast and, because it is made from cotton, it is machine washable. The handles easily convert to a shoulder strap, as the need requires. A button can replace the bobble to make it dressier.

Size: 9.5 inches wide, 5 inches deep, 7.5 inches high

Materials: Size #9 U.S. (5.5mm) circular needles (24 inch), 12 ozs. Lily Sugar ‘n Cream 100% Cotton Solid color Delft Blue, cable needle, stitch marker, large eye sewing needle, small amount of cotton.

Gauge: 7.5 sts, 14 rows = 2 inches in garter stitch
