Mini Market Bag

(This pattern was published in the 2013 “Knitting Pattern a Day Calendar”, dates January 25-27)

This small market bag is ideal when shopping for only a few small items and it folds nicely in one’s purse when not needed. Other uses include a wrapping for gift giving or an organizer for traveling. It works up quickly due to its small size and easily memorized two round pattern stitch. Because the wrong (private) side looks as nice as the right (public) side, it is reversible. The size can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of cast on stitches by a multiple of 4, or by increasing or decreasing the number of rounds worked.

Size: 8 ˝ inches high, 16 inches circumference

Materials:  Yarn - 2 ounces acrylic worsted weight. Needles - size #9 U.S. (5.5mm)  4 or 5 double pointed needles OR 32 inch (or longer) circular needle if using magic loop method. Other- large eye sewing needle, stitch marker

Gauge: In st st 4 sts and 5 rows = 1 inch. Gauge is not critical for this pattern.

Notes: The bag is knitted in the round from the top down.
